Graduate Write-In-Person Days In-Person / Online

The Graduate Write-In-Days offer graduate students a structured time and space to work on long-term writing projects (for instance, dissertations, theses, job/grant application, articles, or other writing projects) and develop good writing habits like time-blocking and goal setting, while also connecting with other Brandeis graduate students.

This limited series will be hosted in-person with a hybrid option. Coffee, tea, and some morning foods will be provided. Besides the in-person modality and limited frequency of these events, the time will be structured just like our regular write-ins: the first 10-15 minutes of each session is dedicated to reviewing weekly progress and setting and sharing daily writing goals. Between goal setting and a mid-way break, writers work individually to meet their write-in goals. Each session ends with time for reflections and goal setting for the upcoming week. On both write-in-person days, a Writing Center staff member will be present to receive any writing-related questions that come up while you work, and a librarian will be accessible should you want help with research, citations, etc.

By signing up, writers pledge to show up, stay for as much of the session as possible, discuss their writing goals and progress with other graduate students, focus solely on their own writing projects and to spend as much time as they can actively writing or working on tasks directly related to writing (research, brainstorming, reviewing feedback, analyzing or organizing data, etc.).

These Write-In-Person events are very special opportunities to enjoy the unique spirit and focus that comes from gathering and working together in a common space designed specifically for happy and healthy writing.
