Intro to 3D Scanning with Skanect

Intro to 3D Scanning with Skanect In-Person

[IN PERSON] This intro to 3D Scanning Workshop will introduce you to tools and techniques for scanning a person-sized object

---
In this training you will get a peek into the 3D Scanning world, and learn how to operate an XBox Kinect 3d scanner with the Skanect 3D scanning software.

We will start with a Powerpoint to look at some use cases and possibilities using 3D scanners, as well as different possible technologies for 3D scanning. Then we will move on to the hands on part, where we scan a person-sized object (which could be your body, if you'd like), import it into TinkerCAD 3D modeling software, remix and edit the scan how you'd like, and get the scan ready for 3D printing.

If you get a successful scan and want to have it 3D printed, you can sign up for a 3D Printing workshop here:

The training takes place in person at the Brandeis Digital Scholarship Lab, located on the Mezzanine of the Goldfarb Library building. (Go up the main stairway to the mezzanine, walk past the Roman Forum model, and take a right down the passage next to the stacks).
