UWS Workshop Series Part III: Research Essay In-Person

The final installment of the UWS Workshop series will explore the research essay. A primary concern for this assignment is establishing an arguable thesis that is based on research but inspired by your personal ideas. Achieving the delicate balance between evidence and speculation that is essential for this assignment is always tricky, not just for undergraduates! In this workshop, we will focus on the outlining process (incorporating research into a rhetorical scaffolding) and the development of a strong thesis statement. Students are encouraged to join in no matter what stage they are at in the writing process. There will be opportunity to share your progress and to ask questions.

Best for: freshman undergraduate students; UWS students
