Explore the World of Ancient Monasteries In-Person

Drop by Rapaporte Treasure Hall to try out a virtual reality/mixed reality experience created by students in NEJS 121a: A Cloistered Life: Masculinity, Monasticism, and Material Religion.

Working with the Library Brandeis Design & Innovation (BDI) staff, students gathered digital assets from their assigned texts and placed them in immersive monastic environments from Egypt, Syria, and Western Europe.

Put on a headset—or use your phone—and take a self-guided exploration through reconstructed monastic spaces and material culture. Comfortable, close-toed shoes recommended.
