Banned Books Week at Brandeis Library In-Person
As part of Banned Books Week, Brandeis Library is celebrating the freedom to read by raising awareness of recent and historical book challenges and bans from 11am to 3pm on Wednesday, October 8, 2025.
Come visit the Robert D. Farber University Archives & Special Collections Reading Room (Goldfarb Level 2) for a display of banned and challenged books throughout history selected from our rare book collection. Highlights include a censored copy of Dante’s Divine Comedy from the 16th century, newly acquired signed copies of the Maus books, and Morrison’s Song of Solomon. Reading encouraged!
Explore banned books that are available through Brandeis Library at our informational table on Goldfarb Level 1. Pick up stickers and buttons celebrating the freedom to read!
Banned Books Week, organized by the American Library Association, takes place October 5-11, 2025.
