Learn about Brandeis Design and Innovation! In-Person
Have you heard about the Makerlab, BDI, the Automation Lab, or the Digital Scholarship Lab? Have you ever seen signs about Deishacks and wondered what it was about? Did you know Brandeis is really good at making robots, or that you can learn how to use a laser cutter? Curious about that other computer lab in Goldfarb, why it's swipe access only, and want to know how to use it?
All of this has to do with Brandeis Design and Innovation! We're a collaborative group of spaces at Brandeis, all focused on learning how to create. We make digital and physical stuff, we help Brandeis community make stuff, and we want to invite new members to join our amazing community. We're beginner friendly and open to faculty, staff, and students of all levels. We love working with campus groups, student clubs, and especially projects connecting with the outside community. If you want to learn, this is the perfect space for you.
This tour will run about one hour and will visit BDI's three primary spaces in the library: The Makerlab, Automation Lab, and Digital Scholarship Lab. Natalie Susmann (Head of the Digital Scholarship Lab) will give you an overview of each space, explain how they connect, and can ask questions about where/how to get started on gaining access and signing up for training. You don't need to know anything about technology -- this is the point of the tour!
The tour will begin at the circulation desk. Meet there!
