Computer Literacies Module 1: "Level Up Your Laptop" In-Person
“Find Your Stuff and Never Lose Work Again”
Ever lost a paper right before it was due? Saved something to “Downloads” and never saw it again?
This workshop is here to fix that.
In this hands-on session, you’ll learn how to actually use your laptop like a pro. We will show you what is going on under the hood. You will walk out with a clean, organized project folder system you can keep using in every class at Brandeis, and beyond! Stop everything going into “Downloads" or "Desktop". Know exactly where your drafts, data, images, and exports live. Open, navigate, and search confidently in your file system instead of hunting and guessing.
Why take this workshop? This module is for you if you want to:
- Do more interesting projects with way less stress.
- Stop losing files, versions, and “Final_FINAL_realsubmission_FINAL-V2-LATEST.docx”.
- Build efficient folder organization that will help you in classes, internships, research, and your career.
- Understand common file types and extensions: Recognize what .docx, .txt, .xlsx, .csv, .pdf, .jpg and others mean.
- Learn how to zip and unzip folders when sharing or submitting big projects.
Bring your laptop. We will work on your real folders and files in real time!
