Mapping Census Data with Social Explorer In-Person
Social Explorer is an online mapping tool that can be used to visualize data from a variety of sources, including the U.S. Census (1790-2010), the American Community Survey, the Religious Congregations and Membership Survey, World Development Indicators, and many more.
In this workshop, we'll use Social Explorer to visualize U.S. census data in an interactive online map. Participants will learn how to create and stylize a map based on a variable of interest, share a map, and use Social Explorer's built-in tools to compare maps, visualize changes over time, etc. No prior GIS or mapping experience is required for this workshop. Attendees can sign into Social Explorer using their Brandeis credentials. Please contact the workshop instructor if you don't have an active Brandeis UNet ID to discuss alternative access options.
This workshop will be recorded. A link to the recording will be emailed to all registrants following the event.
