The Relationship Between Metadata and Music

The Relationship Between Metadata and Music Online

Music scholars, whether composers or musicologists, rely on the accuracy of a library's catalog to locate manuscripts, research materials, and primary resources. The catalog relies on accurate metadata, the information that describes an item, to make items discoverable. However, when the metadata is incorrect, resources are not  discoverable, are not utilized or go unnoticed by scholars. This presentation looks at the relationship between metadata and music and the role metadata plays in the research process.
